Tasting Notes:

Nose: Notes of oak dominate, followed by toasted marshmallows and dried fruit pudding as well as cherries, marzipan and a hint of peat
Palate: Initially fruity with notes of citrus and orange zest, followed by vanilla, butterscotch, honeycomb and biscuits, all of which can be tasted and savored.
Finish: Velvety and smooth with lemon meringue, finishing with an oiliness and saltiness one would expect from a Campbeltown dram.
Cask Types: 70% Bourbon casks and 30% Sherry casks.

The batch no. 3 - Heavily Peated - was bottled at cask strength and clearly differentiates itself from the core range with a strong smoky note.

The New Star of Campbeltown

The original Glengyle distillery was founded by William Mitchell in 1873 and produced a signature Campbeltown malt for half a century before closing forever in 1925. Forever? No, because around the turn of the millennium the descendants of the founder decided to rebuild the distillery. The production houses were completed by the end of 2002 and one after the other the mashtun, stills, mill and other equipment needed for whiskey making arrived. On March 25, 2004, Winifred Ewing and Hedley Wright officially opened the Glengyle distillery. The Mitchells, proud of the long tradition of whiskey distilling in the Campbeltown area, chose the name 'Kilkerran' for their single malt. The name is derived from the Gaelic "Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain" and refers to an early Christian settlement of Saint Kerran, on the grounds of what is now the town of Campeltown. 5 years after opening, we offered you a taste of this newborn whiskey with the first official bottling “Work in Progress”. Since this is now sold out, we can now offer you more single malts. They are lightly peated, double distilled golden yellow single malts. Strong, sweet fruit on the nose, with slightly peppery aromas. More fruity sweetness in the body. In the truest sense of the word "work in progress", a whiskey that continues to develop, full of joie de vivre and aromas. In the finish it spoils the tongue with its incomparable aromas of sweet vanilla.
